How to Get Your EL AL Refund Policy
Many or all the products featured here come from our partners who
compensate us. This may affect the products we write about and where and how
the products appear on the page. However, this does not affect our assessment.
Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and this is how we
make money.
It is important to understand the current refund rules and change
and cancellation policies before booking any travel tickets. That way, if your
plans change or something unexpected happens, you'll know if you'll get a full
refund or credit for future travel. This helps avoid the bad feeling when you
realize you won't be able to get a refund or must pay a huge change fee due to
changes in your travel plans.
Whether you are planning an upcoming flight or seeking
a refund, we have the information you need to understand the EL AL refund policy
.
EL AL's Refund Policy
If you have booked travel at least 7 days before the scheduled
departure date, you will be eligible for a full refund up to 24 hours from the
date of booking. We will not charge you anything and your refund will be made
to the original payment method. This is a policy mandated by the U.S.
Department of Transportation and applies to all fares.
How to Change or Cancel Your Booking
If you need to cancel or change your travel plans, you have
several options. The easiest way to change your itinerary is to log into your account. In the top menu area, click Manage Trips. Under Upcoming trips,
click the trip you want to manage.
If you prefer to make changes over the phone, that's
also possible. You can call 1-800-JET-BLUE (538-2583) to speak with a customer
service representative and file an El Al cancellation policy.
.
Nerd Tip: It's best to cancel or make changes online,
as you'll be charged $25 for changes or cancellations made through EL AL's
phone support.
Ticket Types and Refund Eligibility
Which tickets are eligible for a refund on EL AL? it depends. It's
important to note whether your ticket is refundable or non-refundable before
going through the checkout process when booking.
Refundable Tickets
El Al Airlines’ check-in tickets
are always fully refundable. If the ticket you purchased is marked as
refundable, you can cancel at any time before your scheduled departure time for
a full refund. If you choose to change and rebook your reservation, you will be
responsible for the difference in airfare.
What else do you need to know?
When you cancel a refundable EL AL ticket, all your money will be
returned to the original form of payment; however, you must change or cancel
your ticket before the departure time. If you do not meet this requirement,
your refund will be credited to your El Airlines Business
Class as a credit card (rather than remitted as a proper
refund). You can then use this point for future travel.
Non-refundable tickets
Non-refundable ticket cancellation and change fees depend on the
fare class of the ticket you purchased. Fees may apply if you decide to change
or cancel your reservation outside the 24-hour reservation window set by the US
Department of Transportation. Most travelers don't have to pay, but some will.
Here's a breakdown of what you'll be charged for, depending on the
ticket type:
·
Blue Basic: Changes or cancellations incur a fee. US,
Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America routes are $100, and all other routes
are $200.
·
Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, Mint: There are no fees
for cancellations and changes - only the difference in the price of the ticket
will be charged for changes.
What else do you need to know?
As for your EL AL Points, the balance (after fees) will be
deposited as points in your EL AL Travel Bank (instead of a traditional
refund), which can then be used for future travel. If you are in Changes or
cancellations after the scheduled departure time will result in forfeiture of
all payments.
Award Tickets
What if you booked customer service at El Al and
need to change your travel plans?
EL AL's award ticket cancellation policy states:
·
Changes: You cannot change your award flight. Instead,
you need to cancel un flew segments of your itinerary. You can then rebook a
new flight at the current fare.
·
Cancellation: You can cancel an award ticket
reservation that was not flown but is not a one-way itinerary. Instead, you
must cancel all segments. There is no fee for canceling a no-fly award ticket.
What else do you need to know?
When you cancel your award ticket, you will be refunded by El AL reservations in the form of credit. Your TrueBlue Points will be
refunded to the original TrueBlue account, and any payments made as part of the
booking will be credited to your EL AL Travel Bank as a credit card. Be sure to
check the expiration date of your statement credit so you can use it before it
expires.
After logging into your TrueBlue account, you will be able to
navigate to your travel bank.
Note: One thing to keep in mind is that TrueBlue award flight
redemption rates may fluctuate as redemption rates are based on ticket price.
Therefore, when you cancel an award flight, please be aware that the ticket
price may increase when rebooking. This means that the flight may cost more
TrueBlue Points than the award flight originally cost.
day flight transfers
If you make a same-day flight transfer, you may be charged a fee.
There will be a $75 fee for Blue Basic, Blue, Blue Plus, and Mint tickets.
There is no fee for the same-day conversion of Blue Extra tickets.
Nerd Tip: Loyalty pays off. If you're a Mosaic member,
there are no same-day transfer fees or same-day standby fees, no matter which
fare class you buy.
If you decide to fly on the same day, you are on standby, in most
cases, you will also be charged a fee. There will be a $75 fee for Blue Basic,
Blue, Blue Plus, and Mint tickets. There is no charge for same-day standby for
Blue Extra tickets.
Book a refundable EL AL ticket from the start
If you want to be confident that you are not booking a
non-refundable ticket, you can simply filter your flight search results on the El
Al Airlines official website to only show refundable ticket options. While
these tickets usually cost more, having more flexibility is worth
it. Simply filter your search results under Refundable or Non-Refundable Fare
Type to see all your flight and price options.
